At Concordia we have many opportunities to learn more about God's Word.
A Bible Study for Inquirers, New Members, and Old Members Alike
God is a promise-maker and a promise-keeper. All of His promises find their ‘yes’ and ‘amen’ in Jesus! On Sunday, August 2nd at 1:00 PM, Pastor Estes will continue a new Bible Study entitled “Promise: God is For Us.” This study will explore God’s promises for us in Holy Scripture, with particular emphasis on how they play out in our daily lives of worship, prayer, and vocation. It will also include a study of the essential teachings of Luther’s Small Catechism. All are invited to attend, especially our newest members, and those inquiring about membership. Please RSVP at this link: https://tinyurl.com/NewBibleStudy26 or on the sign-up sheet in the foyer at church.
Our children's Sunday School begins at 9:00 AM for ages 3 and up. A nursery is available for children 2 and under.
The chief focus for Concordia’s youth (high-school age members and their friends) is on the study of God’s Word and their relationship with Christ Jesus. We encourage prayer and Bible study in our meetings. The youth participate in various fellowship events, servant events, and other activities.
The Lutheran Women's Missionary League supports the worldwide ministry of the LCMS by gathering offerings. Locally, Concordia's LWML has supported various Christian charities and missions to help the under-served and homeless population in Louisville.
High school grads, 20s, and 30s, please join us for Bible study, community, and fellowship! We meet at Cherokee Park (Baringer Hill) every other Thursday at 7pm to discuss Luther's Large 7 Small Catechisms. (Rain location is Concordia). Please contact dcegraceconrad@gmail.com with any questions.
On the last Saturday of each month the men of Concordia meet for Bible Study, fellowship, and fun. We invite guest speakers from around the community and the country to inform us of various topics. We frequently have group outings and social events.
The Board of Evangelism plans events and opportunities to reach Louisville and the world with the mercy of Jesus Christ. They also oversee our financial donations and other gifts to Highlands and Louisville area charities. Concordia also supports Lutheran mission work in South Sudan and Liberia.
Concordia supports the work of "Love the Hungry" with financial donations and sponsoring and volunteering at food packaging events. Love the Hungry is a local nonprofit organization with a hands-on mission to provide nourishing meals to children and families vulnerable to hunger and malnutrition.
Music, both choral and instrumental, is important to our worship life at Concordia. One of the centerpieces of our music program is our 114-year old pipe organ. All of our services come from the rich heritage of Lutheran liturgy and hymnody found in the Lutheran Service Book. Our adult choir is led by Rev. Dr. Dale McAbee. The choir sings at our 10:00 AM worship services from September through May. Their music includes choral calls to worship, chanting the Introit with the congregation, choral anthems and the occasional choral offertory selection.
The devoted ladies of Concordia's sewing circle meet for two Wednesdays each month. They sew quilts and prayer blankets that are distributed to various charitable and community organizations.
