CONCORDIA'S YOUTH GROUP
The primary focus of Concordia’s youth is on the study of God’s Word. Every Sunday morning at 9:00 the youth meet in the youth room for study and discussion under the guidance of Emily Fraiser and Nick Garber. It is a great class! Concordia’s Youth Group is very active. They regularly go ice-skating, bowling, hiking, biking, skiing, roller-skating, touring "haunted houses", seeing movies, playing ping-pong, canoeing, going out to eat, playing cards, watching ball games, going to a play at Actors Theater, or.....well, you get the point. Most activities are open to youth in grades seven through twelve. One of the year’s highlights is the summer trip. For three summers the group has made an 11-day trip into the high mountains west of Boulder, Colorado. We stay in cabins in a beautiful valley and go hiking, climbing, rafting, horseback riding, and the like. The group has a great talent show at the end of the stay. One day was service-project day as the group made repairs at the cabins. For several years the group went to the North Carolina shore and they have gone to the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans and to Pensacola, Florida. This year the youth visit Cedar Point in Ohio. This annual trip is open to member youth from confirmation through high school.
Upcoming Events: ð Open Youth Room Nights: On Friday, July 9, and Friday, August 6, the youth room will be open for games (pool, ping pong, board games), and fellowship from 7-9 PM. Snacks provided. Come and join the fun Future Events
ð Summer Trip: A trip for all youth confirmed and older to Cedar Point in Ohio will be from July 30 to August 1. Cedar Point has 75 rides including 17 roller coasters making it the must visit amusement park in the Midwest. We will be leaving on Friday, July 30, at noon (youth will need to be here by then). We will return around 8 PM on Sunday, August 1. Cost to youth-$50 for admission to park and money for 5-6 meals. If youth worked any events, then their cost will be reduced accordingly. Concordia will pay for lodging and transportation. There are plans to attend a Sunday morning church service at or around Cedar Point. Please sign up on the bulletin board in the foyer by July 18 so lodging reservations can be made.
The youth have their own room with table, chairs, and sofas, a large-screen TV, stereo and a kitchenette. They have their Bible studies right "at home". The youth now have a game room with a pool table. They have also have a ping-pong table and an electronic dartboard. This is a special area for our youth to kick back and enjoy themselves.
